Fin Addict uses broad planning windows for salmon and sturgeon, but legal openings are water- and date-specific. Catch-and-release sturgeon is generally available much of the year, with designated sanctuary closures below Bonneville Dam from May 1 through August 31. Salmon seasons and emergency rules can also change in-season.
Licensing note for salmon and steelhead
Beginning in 2026, anglers age 15 and older fishing for salmon or steelhead in the Columbia River and covered Washington tributaries need the Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement in addition to the otherwise required license and record-card documents.
